General Jacob E. Smart

Jacob E. Smart served with the legendary General “Hap” Arnold in World War II, planning the daring bombing raid “Operation Tidal Wave.” During the Cold War, General Smart became an important leader in the Air Force, and eventually worked for NASA on the Hubble Space Telescope project.

The SC Hall of Fame was founded in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 1973 to recognize and honor contemporary and past citizens who have made outstanding contributions to South Carolina's heritage, history and progress.
