In case you missed it, August was Cataract Awareness Month and if you didn't know, cataract correction is actually the most commonly performed surgical procedure in the United States, with more than 3 million surgeries each year. In fact, according to the National Eye Institute, more than 20 million people in the U.S. older than 40 have cataracts and more than half will develop cataracts by age 80.
Mike Switzer interviews Dr. Kerry Solomon, who has been performing cataract correction surgery since 1990 and has been named one of the “Top 50 Opinion Leaders in the Fields of Cataract and Refractive Surgery” worldwide. And he was recently chosen to be one of the first to use the brand new laser technology for cataract correction. Dr. Kerry joins us by phone from his office at the Physicians Eye Surgery Center in Charleston. www.AllAboutVision.com www.LenSxLasers.com www.drkerrysolomon.com www.carolinaeyecare.com
