Should Our Kids Work While In School?
Our next guest believes that our society has prolonged adolescence by allowing parents to continue to control their children's money. Men in particular, she says, have retained adolescence through video games, while young women have been forced to grow up by raising children out of wedlock. She says that this and the current economy are working against many college graduates while many jobs go unfilled due to a skills mismatch between schools and businesses.

Our next guest has been in the military chaplain business for many years but says that a whole new field has opened up that is the fastest growing segment in the chaplain career field: corporate chaplains. Apparently, more and more companies are adding chaplains to their payrolls.

Spot Factoring Is Another Option for Cash-Strapped Businesses
Although the economy appears to have turned the corner from the Great Recession, our next guest says many businesses still find themselves unable to obtain credit lines from banks. And so another option for funding that they turn to, in this situation, is known as factoring, in which a company offers to buy another company's accounts receivable at a discount, in order to provide some short-term working capital. But factoring doesn't always have the greatest reputation.

Software can sometimes be divided into two main categories: closed-source and open-source. Camden, S.C. Finds Success with Antiques
If you are a regular listener of this program, you may remember a recent trivia question about Camden, S.C. In 1774, King George III granted a license for Camden to hold a public fair on what is now known as Fair Street. That license was believed to be the first ever issued for a public fair in what was then the British Colonies. Camden is also the oldest inland city in South Carolina, and so it only seemed natural to our next guest for the city to hold an antiques fair.

Indie Grits Film Festival Keeps Growing
You've heard us talk about the growing popularity of film festivals across South Carolina recently. One of the biggest and most unusual is the Indie Grits festival coming soon to Columbia. Boeing and SC Electric and Gas Team up For Largest Solar Array in Southeast
You've probably heard about or seen the pictures of the largest single rooftop solar panel installation in the Southeast recently put in place by South Carolina Electric & Gas on the new Boeing plant in North Charleston. In fact it's one of the largest in the United States generating 2.6-megawatts of renewable energy, through more than 18,000 thin-film photovoltaic solar laminates covering 10 acres of Boeing's 14-acre roof on the 787 Final Assembly building.

SC Playground Company Hits Pay Dirt
20 years ago, our next guest started a small, family-run business manufacturing wooden playground structures in rural Lexington County for local schools and parks. As the business grew, it became a supplier to the US military, making playground equipment for military installations around the country and eventually to international bases and schools. However, 10 years ago, they closed their manufacturing plant in Red Bank, SC, and our now a distributor for that same equipment made by other companies.

Antiques Roadshow Host is Distinguished Graduate from Florence , SC
It will probably come to no surpise to most of our listeners that Antiques Roadshow is the highest rated primetime series on PBS and has been for the past sixteen years.
