Strawberry Squashes Opponents for Big Win During ETV Kids’ "Vote for Good Health" Campaign

For Immediate Release
November 7, 2008

Stop the presses. There are more than just presidential election results to celebrate.

Wrapping up ETV Smart Cat’s “Vote for Good Health” on-air promotion, ETV staged an election of a more mouth-watering variety. Throughout the campaign that lasted six weeks, kids of all ages had a chance to get involved in the democratic process by voting for their favorite fruit or vegetable.

Out of the more than 500 votes cast online and at the State Fair, Strawberry enjoyed a landslide victory with 141 votes, followed by Watermelon who posted a second place finish with 126 votes.

Spirits were high after all the votes were counted. No bad apples or sour grapes in this bunch – well, maybe a few tears from onion who didn’t quite make the cut.

Fruit and Vegetable Election Results:

Strawberry 141
Watermelon 126
Apple 95
Corn 55
Carrot 55
Peach 44
Squash 16
Lettuce 6
