Columbia, SCThe Foothills edition of ETV's Road Show will be making several stops in Spartanburg County in November, including a special LIVE broadcast from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12 from Daniel Square in downtown Spartanburg. During this broadcast, Mayor Bill Barnet will proclaim that day as "ETV Day" in the city.

Additional ETV Road Show stops will be made on Nov. 10, 14 and 15 from different locations and will include plenty of special programs and family events.

The ETV Road Show is a blend of live events, which includes programming on television and radio, as well as educational activities that engage the entire family and highlight the treasures of Spartanburg County.

ETV will be in the Upstate of South Carolina from Nov. 9-15 visiting and showcasing other communities, including Union and Cherokee counties and surrounding areas.

Listed below is a schedule of events for Spartanburg County. The public is cordially invited to attend all broadcasts and events.


FRIDAY, NOV. 10

On Friday, Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., the ETV Digital Mobile Truck will be at First National Bank on North Pine Street in downtown Spartanburg. This is a rare chance to tour the inside of this state-of-the-art traveling television studio and get a first-hand look at all the bells and whistles that help make the Road Show possible.


SUNDAY, NOV. 12

On Sunday, Nov. 12, the Road Show broadcasts LIVE from Daniel Square in downtown Spartanburg. In addition, Piggley Winks from “Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks” will be meeting and greeting his young friends at the Spartanburg County Headquarters Library from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. The library is located at 151 S. Church Street in downtown Spartanburg. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras to capture the magic.

2 – 5 p.m.            ETV Road Show                               Broadcast on ETV/ETV Radio

Highlights include live and taped segments that spotlight Spartanburg County’s rich history, the Mary Black Birthing Center, the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind, the Spartanburg Regional Cancer Center, the towns of Pacolet, Lyman, Landrum, and Chesnee, as well as Camp Croft, BMW, the College Town Initiative, and more.


TUESDAY, NOV. 14

On Tuesday, Nov. 14, the Road Show presents a LIVE Gardening Day broadcast from the Wofford Arboretum on the campus of Wofford College in Spartanburg. Additionally, Piggley Winks from “Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks” will be on hand to meet all his friends at the Middle Tyger Library from 10 a.m. - noon. The library is located at 170 Groce Road in Lyman.

12 – 1 p.m.            Your Day                              Broadcast on ETV/ETV Radio

Host Bob Polomski, Clemson Extension Horticulturist, speaks with Patrick McMillan, host of the upcoming ETV series Expeditions, and Clemson University naturalist. They will discuss Carolina nature books, get an update on Spartanburg’s urban forestry efforts and the Spot of Pride program, meet an English gardener, and more.

4– 5 p.m.            Making It Grow!                              Broadcast on ETV/ETV SC Channel

Hosted by Rowland Alston, this live broadcast from the Wofford Arboretum allows audience members to ask local master gardeners an array of questions. Later in the program, viewers will experience the graceful landscape of the Wofford Campus. An encore presentation of this program will air again at 7 p.m.


WEDNESDAY, NOV. 15

On Wednesday, Nov. 15, the Road Show concludes its trek through the Foothills region with a visit to the USC Upstate campus. Children’s events include a character appearance by Piggley Winks from “Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks” at the Westside Library from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. The library is located at 525 Oak Grove Road in Spartanburg.

12 – 1 p.m.            Your Day                        Broadcast on ETV/ETV Radio/ETV SC Channel

Features a look at the history and purpose of the ETV Endowment and discusses the Hub City Writers Project--what it is and how it encourages local writers.

3 – 4 p.m.            Your Day Extra                             Broadcast on ETV/ETV SC Channel

Features conversations about the University of South Carolina system and the role of USC Upstate, and an interview with musician and composer Duane Evans, who will help debut the new theme song he wrote for Your Day.

7 – 8 p.m.            ETV Road Show                               Broadcast on ETV/ETV SC Channel

Highlights include live and taped segments that take a closer look at USC Upstate, including the University’s International programs, the School of Nursing, the Susan Jacobs Arboretum, a variety of athletic programs and student life on campus, as well as conversations with Director of Theater, Jimm Cox and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services, Donette Stewart.


In the Upstate region, viewers can tune into ETV on WRET-TV, channel 49; WNTV, channel 29; WNEH-TV, channel 38; and ETV Radio on WEPR-FM 90.1.

The South Carolina Channel is ETV’s digital broadcast service committed to airing events and programs of interest to those in the Palmetto State and surrounding areas. Viewers should contact their local cable company for availability of the South Carolina Channel.
