South Carolina Native Maurice Williams Performs Some of His Biggest Hits on ETV

Columbia, SC...On Saturday, August 19 at 8:30 p.m., American Soundtrack: Doo Wop’s Best presents 18 unforgettable performances by some of the biggest stars of the Doo Wop genre, including Maurice Williams, who was born in Lancaster, South Carolina.
Williams performs twice during the program, the first time joining the Zodiacs on their most popular song “Stay,” which reached number one on the pop charts back in 1960. In his second performance, Williams joins the Diamonds, who covered his song, “Little Darlin’” and turned it into another chart-topping hit.
Some of the other Doo Wop classics sung by the original artists include:
- “Come Go With Me” by The Del Vikings
- “Speedo” by The Cadillacs
- “There’s a Moon Out Tonight” by The Capris
- “Earth Angel” by The Penguins
- “Duke of Earl” by Gene Chandler
- “16 Candles” by Johnny Maestro & the Brooklyn Bridge

- “Let It Be Me” by Betty Everett & Jerry Butler
- “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me” by Mel Carter
- “Remember Then” by Larry Chance & the Earls
- “A Thousand Stars” by Kathy Young & the Innocents
- “Silhouettes” by The Rays
- “Cara Mia” by Jay Black & the Americans
- Medley of “Shimmy, Shimmy KoKo Bop,” “Tears on My Pillow,” “Hurt So Bad” by Little Anthony & the Imperials
- “In the Still of the Night” by Fred Paris & the Five Satins
Encore presentations of American Soundtrack: Doo Wop’s Best can be seen on Sunday August 20 at 11 p.m. and Tuesday, August 22 at 9 p.m.
