South Carolina ETV President and CEO Linda O’Bryon Elected to PBS Board

South Carolina ETV President and CEO Linda O’Bryon has been elected to serve a three-year term on the PBS Board of Directors, beginning October 26, 2012. The announcement came from Sharon Rockefeller, Chair of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee of the PBS Board of Directors.
O'Bryon is founding executive editor of PBS’ Nightly Business Report, which changed the way business news was presented on television. In 2009, O'Bryon received a national Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award in Business and Financial Reporting from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. She has received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. Her tenure at ETV has so far included the opening of a state-of-the-art radio facility, two new national music series, an emphasis on digital platforms, and a new series based on South Carolina Hall of Fame inductees.
The PBS Board of Directors is responsible for governing and setting policy for PBS and the 354 PBS member stations. The PBS Board is comprised of 27 members, with 14 representatives from PBS stations including WGBH, Boston and KPBS, San Diego; 12 general directors from outside the public broadcasting system; and PBS president, Paula Kerger.
South Carolina ETV is the state's public educational broadcasting network with 11 television and eight radio transmitters, and a multi-media educational system in more than 2,500 schools, colleges, businesses and government agencies. Using television, radio and the web, SCETV's mission is to enrich lives by educating children, informing and connecting citizens, celebrating our culture and environment and instilling the joy of learning.
