New ETV Web Page Provides Resources for Educators
For Immediate Release
January 10, 2013
ETV has launched a Common Core State Standards web page to assist educators with the new “Common Core” teaching standards adopted by 46 states.
“Common Core” are standard requirements for students in English and Mathematics necessary to succeed in academic college courses and workforce training programs. These standards were adopted in July 2010 and will be fully implemented into South Carolina public schools in 2014-15.
The ETV clearinghouse page, using the Facebook-style learning platform Edmodo, provides essential links to Common Core websites that offer supportive videos and lesson plans. Over 130 items from websites around the country can be accessed immediately by teachers with content divided by age group and subject category.
Teachers can sign-up by going to: www.edmodo.com and select “I’m a Teacher” to register for free. Teachers who are already Edmodo members can go to: www.edmodo.com/publisher/scetv and click “Follow Community” to join the ETV Common Core Clearinghouse page. Students can also access information from the ETV clearinghouse page with their teachers’ permission.
South Carolina ETV is the state's public educational broadcasting network with 11 television and eight radio transmitters, and a multi-media educational system in more than 2,500 schools, colleges, businesses and government agencies. Using television, radio and the web, SCETV's mission is to enrich lives by educating children, informing and connecting citizens, celebrating our culture and environment and instilling the joy of learning.
