Columbia, SC...If weekends just aren’t complete without a hearty dose of British entertainment on ETV--we're talking "As Time Goes By" and "Keeping Up Appearances," here, then ETV’s Brit Club is going to provide a great way to enjoy some of England’s finest sitcoms and dramas with other Palmetto State fans.

On Saturday, June 14 at 3 p.m., ETV will host the Brit Club Tea Kick-off Party in the high definition theater in the ETV’s Telecommunications Center at 1041 George Rogers Blvd. in Columbia. Planned to coincide with The Queen's "official birthday," June 14, this event is a way for fans of Britcoms and Masterpiece Theatre to share an afternoon savoring tea and assorted refreshments while enjoying Masterpiece Theater's version of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility.

Everything from dainty, assorted sandwiches to Lady Fingers served with whipped cream and raspberries to an assortment of specialty English teas will be served on elegant silver and china, as befitting the occasion--after all, would the Queen expect anything less? So, in between bites of cream puffs with chocolate, club members will be able to savor tidbits of gossip, the latest news from "across the pond" and a passionate discussion about their love of British television and movies.

This Brit Club event is the first of several planned around the state to celebrate British programming on ETV. The Club is also a fun way for fans to view select screenings and receive advance notice of special events - including station visits from personalities.

Club membership requires a donation of $30 per person or $50 per couple for each event. Seating is limited. For reservations, call 1-800-256-8535 or go online to www.myetv.org to register.

South Carolina ETV is the state's public educational broadcasting network with 11 television and eight radio transmitters, and a multi-media educational system in more than 2,500 schools, colleges, businesses and government agencies. Using television, radio and the web, SCETV's mission is to enrich lives by educating children, informing and connecting citizens, celebrating our culture and environment and instilling the joy of learning.
