For Immediate Release
September 24, 2008

On Friday, Oct. 24, ETV Sports presents a Lowcountry high school football showdown between the defending 2007 Region AAAA Champions, the Berkeley Stags and the Summerville Green Wave, led by Coach John McKissick, the all-time winningest high school coach in America.

The showcase begins at 7 p.m. with “Friday Night,” a LIVE community-based pre-game program highlighting the towns of Berkeley and Summerville. Hosted by ETV Sports personality Bob Schuster, this 30-minute broadcast features interviews with community leaders.

Then, at 7:30 p.m., ETV’s digital broadcasting service, the South Carolina Channel, brings LIVE coverage of the highly anticipated match up between two teams that are said to have one of the biggest high school football rivalries in the state. Former USC running back Deuce Staley provides color commentary and Gamecock Sports’ broadcaster Derek Scott gives up-to-minute play-by-play.

During the broadcast, student reporters from both schools will scour the sidelines, letting fans show their school spirit. Then, during half-time, Schuster takes center stage again, chatting with both schools about their academic achievements off the field.

However, in addition to the Lowcountry action, ETV also wants to showcase games from every corner of South Carolina and is asking for fans across the state to send in cell phone videos of amazing plays from their local games that night. Videos should be e-mailed to etvsports@scetv.org (NOTE: Texting the video will not work). Who knows? The clip might air that same night inside the game we are broadcasting.

Fans can also e-mail their own play-by-play of those game-changing touchdowns or fumbles and we will announce what happened and the score on our air. We’ll be sure to give proper credit to the contributor and his or her school. The clips may also find a home on the ETV Sports Web site where, with the click of a button, pigskin fanatics can instantly see these show-stopping game highlights.

An encore presentation of the pre-game show, “Friday Night,” and the football game will air on ETV on Saturday, Oct. 25 beginning at 1 a.m. and on the South Carolina Channel on Sunday, Oct. 26 beginning at 4 p.m. For additional rebroadcast dates visit www.scetv.org/index.php/sports/.
