ETV Celebrates Classic Philly Soul with “Love Train: The Sound of Philadelphia”
For Immediate Release
November 19, 2008
On Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m., ETV will broadcast “Love Train: The Sound of Philadelphia.” This musical extravaganza celebrates the enduring artistic legacy of producing/songwriting duo Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, and the entire family of artists from Philadelphia International Records. These talented singers are best-known as the creators of the classic Philly Soul sound that dominated music and radio charts in the early 1970s.
Filmed in June 2008 during a historic concert at the landmark Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, “Love Train: The Sound of Philadelphia” is an unprecedented musical experience, spotlighting the most comprehensive gathering of Philly Soul icons ever performing on one stage.
The hour-long program features entertainment by The O’Jays, Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes, Russell Thompkins Jr. and The New Stylistics, The Delfonics, The Intruders, Jerry Butler, Bunny Sigler, Three Degrees, The Soul Survivors, Jean Carne, G.C. Cameron and The Sound of Philadelphia Orchestra.
This musical escape combines dramatic sets and vibrant lighting inspired by Philadelphia International Records’ classic album covers, with a non-stop succession of electrifying performances. Love Train gives viewers a front-row seat for one of the greatest soul revues in concert history. This high-energy celebration is a fitting tribute to the immortal sights and sounds of Philly Soul.
