Columbia SC...On Tuesday, the day after presidential candidate Hillary Clinton made headlines by becoming teary in response to a question by a New Hampshire voter-first lady wannabe Jeri Thompson told South Carolina ETV Radio, in a taped interview, that the heartfelt support her husband receives often moves her to tears.
In the interview, which aired on Friday, on "The Big Picture on the Radio," Thompson told host Andrew Gobeil, "I can look back on highlights of each town and city and state, and part of the country we've been in, and one of the most gratifying (things) is what people say about my husband that have known him the longest...And knowing that they have depended on his character and his integrity in different situations all over the country...And people that he doesn't even, quite frankly, remember, who say, "I'm here because my father passed away and...your husband did this for my father... And it is hard for me not to tear up, quite frankly, more often than not. My staff already knows that..."
During the interview, Thompson also disclosed that her 4-year-old daughter, Hayden, attends the same school as Lynne Cheney's, the wife of Vice President Dick Cheney's, grandchildren. And that it was while discussing the rigors of the campaign trail, that Cheney gave her the guidance that she is now following;
Said Thompson, "We live in McLean, VA and Lynne Cheney's grandkids go to the same school that our 4-year-old goes to. And she gave me a bit of advice early on...She said you will have great disappointments in this process, but you will have...opportunity, (too), and do not stay home. Take the kids when you can...Meet as many people as you can. Do as many things as you can, because it will change you, and those people out there that you won't expect will change your heart. And you know what? She's absolutely right."
The Big Picture on the Radio can be heard Fridays at 9 a.m.
