Gaffney Mayor Jolly Proclaims November 13th as "ETV Day"

Columbia, SC…The fun and frivolity of the Foothills edition of the ETV Road Show continues in Gaffney, home of the famous Peachoid.  During a live broadcast on Monday, Nov. 13, Mayor Henry Jolly will proclaim “ETV Day” in Gaffney.  The Road Show will broadcast live from downtown Gaffney and the public is cordially invited to attend.

The ETV Road Show is an interesting blend of live events, which includes programming on television and radio, as well as educational activities that engage the entire family and highlight the treasures of Cherokee County.

ETV will be in the Upstate of South Carolina from Nov. 9-15 visiting and showcasing other communities, including Union and Spartanburg counties and surrounding areas.

The schedule of events for Nov. 13 include:

Children’s Events:

Piggley Winks from “Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks” will be meeting and greeting his young friends at the Cherokee County Library from 10 a.m. – noon.  The library is located at 300 East Rutledge Avenue.  Parents are encouraged to bring cameras to capture the magic.

LIVE BROADCASTS

12 – 1 p.m.            Your Day                              Broadcast on ETV/ETV Radio

Features conversations with local historians and residents about Cherokee county, a trip down the scenic Broad River with Mike Willis of the SC Department of Natural Resources, and maybe even the secret to Daddy Joe’s famous barbecue ribs.

1 – 2 p.m.            Project Discovery                    Broadcast on ETV/ITV/ETV SC Channel

This student-oriented special, hosted by ETV’s Tabitha Lewis, shines the spotlight on Cherokee county, Blacksburg, Kings Mountain National Battle Site and the Cowpens National Battleground.  Students from around the state are encouraged to call in with questions.  The number will be provided during the broadcast.

3 – 4 p.m.            Your Day Extra                    Broadcast on ETV/ETV Radio

This program features additional conversations about the future of Gaffney and other fascinating points of interest in Cherokee county.

7 – 8 p.m.             ETV Road Show                  Broadcast on ETV/ETV’s SC Channel; encore presentation airs on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m.

Highlights include live and taped segments that take a look at Cherokee county’s diverse history, Limestone College, the town of Blacksburg, Ed Brown’s Rodeo, the Upstate Carolina Hospital, the Gaffney Peach Festival, the Peachoid, and more.

In the Upstate region, viewers can tune into ETV on WRET-TV, channel 49; WNTV, channel 29; WNEH-TV, channel 38; and ETV Radio on WEPR-FM 90.1. The South Carolina Channel is ETV’s digital broadcast service committed to airing events and programs of interest to those in the Palmetto State and surrounding areas. Viewers should contact their local cable company for availability of the South Carolina Channel.
