For Immediate Release
September 27, 2006
Columbia, SC... Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 11, ETV captures the adventure of safari for state fair-goers of all ages, with an exhibit resembling a tropical jungle, and a theme of "Explore Your World." Amid a scenic tangle of trees, visitors to ETV’s display can follow a path that will spark their imagination and introduce them to a host of new adventures.
ETV’s presence at the 2006 South Carolina State Fair promises the familiar kid-friendly fare, including visits with one very curious little monkey named George and a leaner, trimmer "ETV Kids" mascot, Smart Cat. However, there will be many other interactive attractions in store for adults, including:
- On Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m., ETV will be at the grandstand for a live taping of Bill Pinkney & The Original Drifters’ concert. The performance will air statewide on Friday, Oct. 20 at 9:30 p.m.
- Live music from the ETV stage inside the Ruff Building including Bluegrass band Slope Valley on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. and local rock band Namedropper on Friday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
- Meet and greet opportunities with popular ETV personalities, including Beryl Dakers, Andrew Gobeil, and Clemson University Naturalist Patrick McMillan. McMillan, a frequent guest on ETV Radio’s Your Day, will discuss his new nature series, Expeditions, which debuts on ETV in January
- A live taping of Making It Grow with host Rowland Alston, on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at noon, at the grandstand. The program will air statewide at 7 p.m. that same day.
- A live broadcast of Walters Edgar’s Journal on Friday, Oct. 13 at noon. Renowned barbeque connoisseur Dr. Walter Edgar will talk with some of the best barbeque cooks he knows, Bronson Smith and Bill Barksdale
- ETV Radio’s Your Day will broadcast live from inside the Ruff Building each weekday beginning at noon. Following the broadcast, there will be a meet and greet with Your Day personalities and guests from 2-3 p.m.
Now, back to those youngsters. This year, ETV will bring a trio of kids celebrities to meet and greet their young fans, including Curious George, the star of ETV’s newest children’s animated television program. The series, which began airing on Monday, Sept. 4, can be seen weekdays at 8 a.m. and again at 3:30 p.m. on all ETV stations.
The “ETV Kids” mascot Smart Cat, who has literally taken steps to better fitness, will show off his progress, and show kids how exercise can be fun.
Of course, Dooley, from ETV’s popular The Dooley and Pals Show, will also be on hand to say hello. For a schedule of character appearances, click here. Please note all times are subject to change.
Your Day is a production of Clemson University.
