ETV’s Road Show 10th Edition Coming to Kershaw County on May 23

Columbia, SC...The excitement of the ETV Road Show 10th Edition continues in picturesque Camden on Friday, May 23.  Complete with live broadcasts throughout the day, ETV helps to kick off "Kershaw County, Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center Presents ETV Day at Historic Camden."  The event, which includes live music, local residents dressed in period clothing, mouth-watering food, and fun for the entire family, will be held from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.

The ETV Road Show is an energetic mix of live events, including programming on television and radio, as well as educational activities aimed at spotlighting Kershaw County to the rest of South Carolina and surrounding states. 

ETV will be highlighting this region of the Palmetto State from May 19-23 visiting and showcasing other communities, including those in Lee, Clarendon, and Sumter counties.

The schedule of events for May 23 include:

Children’s Events: 

Clifford the Big Red Dog will be making two visits to Kershaw County to meet and greet his young friends at area libraries.  Clifford can be seen on Tuesday, May 20 at the Greater Elgin Branch Library in Elgin and on Friday, May 23 at the Kershaw County Library in Camden.  From 10 a.m. until noon, the beloved pooch will delight boys and girls alike with storytelling and Clifford-style fun, so parents don’t forget your cameras to capture the magic.

LIVE BROADCASTS:

12 - 1 p.m.      Walter Edgar’s Journal         Broadcast on ETV Radio

This broadcast features conversations with Kershaw County citizens and community leaders on a variety of topics including economic development, the performing arts, and culinary trends.  Live music from local musicians complements the broadcast.

1 - 2 p.m.        Project Discovery                  ETV and Via Satellite to Schools Statewide

Live from Historic Camden, this student-oriented program will focus on the role Camden played in the Revolutionary War.  Students in grades 3-8 will learn about the Battle of Camden and see several of the historical buildings on the site. In addition, Project Discovery will discuss the horse industry in the area and what it means to the local economy.  All Palmetto State students are invited to call in and ask local historians and representatives from the horse industry their questions.  Call-in number: 1-800-763-ETV1.

3 - 4 p.m.        Your Day Extra                     Broadcast on ETV Radio

This program spotlights citizens and community leaders who present interesting and fun facts about Camden and surrounding towns.

7 - 8 p.m.        ETV Road Show                    Broadcast on ETV/ETV SC Channel

Highlights include live and taped segments that feature the Historic Camden Revolutionary War site, Elgin’s centennial, Steeplechase, the Elgin Catfish Stomp, ghosts of Camden, local artisans, and more. Encore presentation airs on Sunday, May 25 at
6:30 p.m.

Special Road Show Programming

Saturday, May 24

8 p.m. - Victory by Valor looks at Shaw Air Force Base, the home of the largest combat F-16 wing in the U.S.

8:30 p.m. - Sunrise at Gum Swamp: The Battle of Camden is a history of this Revolutionary War battle, where British General Cornwallis soundly defeated American General Gates.

11 p.m. - Bluegrass Express features the music of Scape Ore Bluegrass Company.

Viewers in South Carolina’s steeplechase hub can tune into ETV on WRLK-TV, channel 35 and ETV Radio on WLTR (91.3 FM). The South Carolina Channel is ETV’s digital broadcast service committed to airing events and programs of interest to those in the Palmetto State and surrounding areas. Viewers should contact their local cable company for availability of the South Carolina Channel.
