For Immediate Release
May 13, 2009
Columbia, SC… ETV's commitment to quality, locally-produced programming was recently exemplified, as one ETV and two Clemson University productions that have aired on the statewide network received Regional Emmy award nominations. The winners will be announced by the Southeast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences during a ceremony on Saturday, June 27, in Atlanta.
Glenn Rawls, director of on-air promotions received the Outstanding Achievement: Television Crafts Achievement Excellence nomination for DTV 101, ETV’s program about the switch to digital broadcasting.
DTV 101’s companion Web site was previously recognized nationally by the online information portal, About.com. Although ETV, along with a handful of other South Carolina stations, made the digital conversion in February, viewers can still stream the show at http://www.scetv.org/dtv and benefit from the user-friendly DTV information, before the rest of the state’s broadcasters make their big switch on June 12.
Two other programs that air on ETV, “Crossroads” and “Expeditions with Patrick McMillan: Darters and Dace: Jewels of Our Mountain Streams,” received recognition for Outstanding Achievement in Television Programming Excellence. Both programs are produced by Clemson University Video Production Services.
Expeditions airs weekly on ETV on Sundays at 7:30 p.m.
South Carolina ETV is the state's public educational broadcasting network with 11 television and eight radio transmitters, and a multi-media educational system in more than 2,500 schools, colleges, businesses and government agencies.
