ETV’s Knowitall.org Rescues Parents (and Kids) with Safe Alternatives on the Web

For Immediate Release
February 24, 2006

Columbia, SC... Fed up with your kids spending hours playing video games? Not sure what they might see while surfing the Internet? Afraid of those online chat rooms?

Well, worry no more.

ETV is unveiling a brand new look for knowitall.org -a free, exciting, entertaining, and dare we say it, educational format. Knowitall.org had over 2 million hits last year, and that was with its old format!

Knowitall.org, ETV’s educational Web portal for K-12, is a collection of interactive Web sites, virtual field trips and a great research destination (hint: terrific resource for homework help!).

While there, kids can learn to do everything from build a virtual rocket to learn how to say “thank you mother” in Gullah to creating their very own Mona Lisa-and have we mentioned, they can look at a chicken bone under the microscope!

And speaking of microscopes, kids can also journey to “Kids Work” on knowitall.org, where they can go behind-the-scenes at a hospital and pretend to be a pharmacist or doctor or take their very own backstage peek at what goes on at the theater or TV station.

But don’t take our word for it that knowitall.org is a great Web site for kids; The American Library Association has chosen it as one its great Web sites!

Funding for Knowitall.org is provided by the South Carolina General Assembly through the K-12 Technology Initiative.

South Carolina ETV is the state's public educational broadcasting network with 11 television and eight radio transmitters, and a multi-media educational system in more than 2,500 schools, colleges, businesses and government agencies. Using television, radio and the web, SCETV's mission is to enrich lives by educating children, informing and connecting citizens, celebrating our culture and environment and instilling the joy of learning.
