"Finding Clovis" and "Carolina Caught" Recognized for Excellence

For Immediate Release
July 9, 2010

Columbia, SC… On the heels of winning four 2010 Southeast Regional Emmy Awards, ETV has also picked up two bronze 2010 Telly Awards for the excellent quality of its local productions. Both productions are part of the documentary series "Carolina Stories."

The first, "Finding Clovis," won in the Documentary category. It was produced by Steve Folks and takes a sweeping look at the haunting mystery surrounding the sudden disappearance of the ancient Clovis people, a once-flourishing tribe of hunters and skilled toolmakers who inhabited South Carolina more than 13,000 years ago.

"Finding Clovis" features world-renowned scientists including Al Goodyear from the University of South Carolina, Dennis Stanford from the Smithsonian Institute and geophysicist Allen West who offer insight about these significant first Americans – who they were and where they came from – and the theories surrounding their abrupt demise.

"Carolina Caught," produced by Mark Adams, won the second Telly for excellence in the Videography/Cinematography category. The half-hour program sheds light on what remains of the Palmetto's State once-thriving shrimping industry, what caused its decline, and where it might be heading in the future. It unfolds through the stories of local fisherman, including Errol Hattaway who hung up his nets at the end of the 2008 shrimping season after a lifetime at sea.

"Carolina Caught" has the distinction of being the first "Carolina Stories" production to be shot all in high definition, making the South Carolina coast, with its blue waters and beautiful sunrises, shine like never before.

It will be rebroadcast on the following schedule:

  • ETV-HD:
    Thursday, July 29 at 9 p.m.
    Sunday, August 1 at 4 p.m.
