Interviewed South Carolina WWII Veterans

Columbia SC…On Thursday, Nov. 9 at 9 p.m., ETV’s award-winning Carolina Stories series presents The Vanishing Generation, a powerful visualization based on the first-hand accounts of South Carolina’s World War II veterans.

It has been 61 years since the end of World War II, and the last of the South Carolina veterans who fought against the Empire of Japan and Nazi Germany are now dying.  Soon their living memories will be gone and World War II will simply become another chapter in history.

The Vanishing Generation captures the moving stories of these veterans to ensure they are never forgotten.  Through personal remembrances, they paint a vivid picture of their experiences during the war, and how these experiences not only changed the world but their lives as well.

"I want the viewers to realize how important it is to record and remember these World War II veterans’ stories, and how important the Second World War was to us as a nation and to the world,” said ETV producer Mark Adams.

Carolina Stories is a weekly series created by ETV producers that spotlights the people, events and interests of South Carolinians. The series airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. Saving Sandy Island, a documentary from the first season, won a 2006 Telly Award.
