For Immediate Release
October 24, 2006
Columbia, SC...ETV has received an EngenuitySC Project Award in recognition of its science and education programming.
In making the award Tuesday, Oct. 17, EngenuitySC officials cited the television network's leadership role in promoting education within the state, and said that the award of two hydrogen-powered battery packs for ETV cameras allows the network to become a leader in adopting the very technology its programming highlights.
“At ETV we love being on the cutting edge of education and technology, and we are very excited to be part of the trial use of Jadoo’s N-Gen power units,” said Maurice "Moss" Bresnahan, President and CEO of ETV. “Thus far our engineers are very impressed, and we are pleased to be part of this commitment that South Carolina is making in hydrogen fuel cell use.”
The portable hydrogen batteries will reduce the weight of the field cameras for their operators, have both a longer life than the conventional model, and can recharge more quickly than those currently in use.
“Jadoo is pleased to add ETV to the list of professional broadcast partners using the N-Gen Fuel Cell Power Unit,” said Larry Bawden, President and CEO at Jadoo. “With advantages over traditional batteries in areas like runtime, shelf-life and carry weight, fuel cells are the future in alternative power.”
The award was announced during EngenuitySC's Third Annual Conference held in Columbia. The conference is designed to provide an overview of the hydrogen economy and the role that fuel cells will play in the future of the city.
South Carolina ETV is the state's public educational broadcasting network with 11 television and eight radio transmitters, and a multi-media educational system in more than 2,500 schools, colleges, businesses and government agencies. Using television, radio and the web, SCETV's mission is to enrich lives by educating children, informing and connecting citizens, celebrating our culture and environment and instilling the joy of learning.
