ETV Ushers in the New Year with Comprehensive Legislative Coverage

As the South Carolina General Assembly convenes in January, ETV is there to bring viewers complete coverage, including weekly analyses of the top issues.
On Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m., ETV and ETV Radio will offer LIVE coverage of Governor Sanford’s State of the State Address. Broadcast from the House Chambers of the State House, the speech is expected to include Governor Sanford’s plans for the upcoming legislative season.
Then on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m., ETV will provide LIVE statewide coverage of the Inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States.
Hosted by PBS News Anchor Jim Lehrer, the program will feature excerpts of the morning events including church services and the Obama’s arrival at the White House, coverage of all events at the Capitol, as well as the official swearing-in at noon and Obama’s first speech as president.
Following the address, Lehrer will be joined by the NewsHour’s regular analysts, Mark Shields, David Brooks and others, for reaction and commentary.
Later that evening, ETV brings Frontline: Dreams of Obama. This hour-long program examines the rich personal and political biography of President Barack Obama. The program airs at 9 p.m.
Starting Thursday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m., The Big Picture, with host Mark Quinn, will present a legislative roundtable with Senate and House leadership who discuss the 2009 legislative session of the General Assembly. Each month thereafter, The Big Picture will dedicate one episode to a specific State House issue.
As in the past, ETV’s South Carolina Channel will air State House Today, which provides gavel-to-gavel coverage of the House and Senate proceedings. The program can be seen statewide beginning Tuesday, Jan. 13.
State House Today will air on the following schedule:
Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m.– 1:30 p.m.
Wednesdays from 2 p.m.– 3 p.m. (On Wednesdays, Feb. through May, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
Thursdays from 9:30 a.m.– 12 p.m.

This Week in the House airs every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m.–12 p.m.
