For Immediate Release
May 29, 2006

Columbia, SC... For viewers who can’t wait to start their vacations, but aren’t quite sure where to go, ETV is here to help.  On Friday, June 16, ETV will air two special programs that will transport South Carolinians to the beautiful eastern coast of North Carolina.

The virtual vacation kicks off at 9 p.m. with Cruising Carolina: The Northern Albemarle.  This program explores the Inner Banks of our northern neighbor—including Edenton, Manteo, Hatteras, Hertford, Ocracoke, New Bern, Bath, Beaufort, Southport and Wilmington—traveling to some of the region’s best kept secrets. Cruising Carolina pays homage to the people, history and towns of the Inner Banks, as well as the waters that nurture them.

This special program is an intriguing blend of useful nautical information and hundreds of tales about historical villages, extraordinary people, and uncommon beauty that distinguish the watery edges of North Carolina. As host and narrator, Claiborne Young’s enthusiasm will provide an enlightening and exciting tour of the Carolina coast.

Then at 10 p.m., the voyage continues with The Outer Banks: North Carolina’s Coastal Treasure.  Famous for its ocean sunsets, fresh seafood and white sand, the Outer Banks, and its many historic lighthouses, are often the symbol of North Carolina.   Thousands of vacationers flock there every year to find peace and renewed energy. Thousands more gather to see the many historic sites this region has to offer.

Storyteller David Holt treks through these sites, interweaving some fascinating history and a fresh look at some of North Carolina's oldest treasures. Holt mesmerizes his audience with yarns about Blackbeard the Pirate, the Wright Brothers and Andy Griffith's part in an outdoor theater production. Holt's storytelling blends with expanses of ocean waves and motionless blue skies, shot in high definition, and a peaceful musical score that will sweep viewers off their feet and make them long for a trip to the coast.
