Columbia, SC…Since 2003, the ETV Road Show has spotlighted the people, history and traditions from all across South Carolina. Beginning Monday, Nov. 10 through Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m., The Best of the ETV Road Show revisits several of those Palmetto State gems.

From the mountains to the sea, this series of five 30-minute episodes takes South Carolinians on a weeklong excursion, highlighting fascinating towns and stories, as well as the remarkable people who bring them to life. Each program includes archival footage from previous Road Shows, as well as new interviews with local leaders and residents who talk about the positive changes that have impacted the communities since the last time ETV was there.

“Over the last ten Road Show installments, each trip has given the folks of South Carolina heartwarming and funny glimpses into so many communities around the state,” said Don Godish, ETV Road Show executive producer. “It was the people who made all of the Road Show trips unforgettable. And it’s for those very same folks that ETV has made this series.”

The schedule of programs includes:

On Monday, Nov. 10, The Best of the ETV Road Show focuses its lens on the scenic Upstate region. The program spotlights stories about Anderson-native Robert “Radio” Kennedy, a mentally-challenged man who inspired a football team to become champions, former Greenville Mayor Max Heller and the Greenville Symphony. The show also tours beautiful Pickens County, and then visits Seneca to check out some of the area’s most unique antiques.

On Tuesday, Nov. 11, the charm and majesty of historic Charleston are in full view. Featured in this broadcast are the quaint islands of Charleston County and the restoration of Drayton Hall, a stately, pre-Revolutionary plantation home located along the Ashley River. And no trip to Charleston would be complete without a few ghost stories and a visit to the historic downtown district.

On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the program promises a day at the beach, literally. The Best of ETV Road Show highlights the Coastal region of the Palmetto State with an escape to one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations, Myrtle Beach. Featured in this episode is one of the most visited attractions in the area – Broadway at the Beach, which includes a look back at the beloved Pavilion. ETV cameras also capture the welcoming allure of Conway, Georgetown, Murrells Inlet and Mullins.

On Thursday, Nov. 13, the breathtaking splendor of the Piedmont region is front and center. From the Lancaster and Chester Railway Museum in Lancaster to the bustling Queen City (Charlotte, NC), this broadcast explores the spectrum of rural and urban arts and industry. The program includes a stop at internationally acclaimed artist Bob Doster’s Backstreet Gallery. The small-town charm of Chester and York are also highlighted during this broadcast.

On Friday, Nov. 14, The Best of the ETV Road Show rounds out its tour with a visit to the Pee Dee region, home of the world-famous Darlington Raceway. This program calls attention to South Carolina’s oldest inland town, Cheraw, which is also the hometown of legendary jazz trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie. While still in the Pee Dee, a stopover in scenic Florence offers a revealing exploration of the city’s rich history and Renaissance spirit.

In conjunction with The Best of the ETV Road Show week of programs, ETV will launch a new Web site, www.myetv.org/roadshow, that combines videos from all of the Road Show programs with the power of Google Maps and blogs allowing for easy exploration of every region of the Palmetto State.

With the click of a button, visitors can even watch a video that gives the inside scoop about many destinations in South Carolina, complete with directions to and from each location. While at the Web site, visitors can search the surrounding areas for fun things to see and do, and then post their own travel tips and comments for others to read.
