For Immediate Release
October 2, 2009

Columbia, SC… Starting Wednesday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 25, ETV will be adding to the TREEmendous Fun of the 2009 South Carolina State Fair. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the statewide network will feature character meet-and-greets and promote children’s reading and healthy living.

Come out to the fair and have some fun with Leona from the popular PBS Kid’s show “Between the Lions.” The award-winning series is designed to strengthen the literacy skills of its viewers, while playfully demonstrating the joys of reading. Leona is a 4-year-old lion cub who serves as a role model for younger viewers, enjoys finding new books to read and writing exciting new stories to share with her family.

Also adding to the fun at the fair will be Smart Cat, ETV’s very own friendly and fit mascot. He will be encouraging kids to eat healthy and to maintain an active lifestyle. Smart Cat coloring sheets, stickers, and more will be available for kids to take home.

Plus, be one of the first 200 people to join Leona and Smart Cat for both Kindergarten days and Scout Day to receive a free copy of the book Clifford: Where Is the Big Red Doggie?by Norman Bridwell, Bats On Parade by Kathi Appelt, or Black Cat by Christopher Myers. Books will be given out one per child on a first-come, first-serve basis. Arrive early to be sure and receive your free copy.
