Programs Airing on ETV Receive Awards for Broadcasting Excellence

Columbia, SC…This award season, ETV has been honored with recognition that salutes the network’s commitment to excellence in broadcasting.

“The Big Picture” has been awarded the 2008 South Carolina Medical Association's (SCMA) Broadcast Journalism Award for “Alzheimer's in SC.” This is the second consecutive year that “The Big Picture” has received the SCMA award. Last year’s award was presented for the thought-provoking “Shaken Baby Syndrome” episode.

Airing in conjunction with the award ceremony, ETV will air an encore presentation of this episode on Thursday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m. However, the program can also be watched on demand, via streaming video, at http://www.scetv.org/index.php/the_big_picture/show/alzheimers_in_sc/.

“The Big Picture” is ETV’s weekly news and public affairs program designed to inform, entertain and enlighten viewers by providing an in-depth look at the issues and topics of interest to South Carolinians.

• Clemson University’s “Your Day” program, which airs statewide at noon Monday through Thursday on ETV Radio, in association with Clemson University Video Production Services, has been honored by the Association for Communications Excellence with the Gold Award. This international recognition in the news and features category is for “House Hunting with the Bug Guys.” The Gold Award is the highest honor given by the association.

The Bug Guys, entomologist Cam Lay, assistant department head for Pesticide Regulation, and Eric Benson, Clemson extension urban entomologist, host the hour-long segment on the second Tuesday of each month on ETV Radio.

Amanda McNulty from “Making It Grow!” was honored as a finalist in the audio recordings category from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACAA) Communications Awards Program for her creative "Making It Grow!" spots on ETV Radio.
