ETV Profiles One of America’s Most Prolific Authors: Mickey Spillane

Columbia, SC… This weekend, ETV takes an affectionate and informative look at the life and times of Mickey Spillane with two special programs that highlight this prolific writer.
On Saturday, July 22 at 7:30 p.m., ETV presents Profile: Mickey Spillane. During the program, Jim Welch, known best to ETV viewers as co-host of “NatureScene,” talks with Spillane about the secrets behind his writing style, why he believes his books were so popular, and why he decided to move to South Carolina in 1954. The program was filmed at Spillane’s home in Murrells Inlet and follows him to some of his favorite haunts along the coast.
On Sunday, July 23 at 1:30 p.m., The Writers' Circle with Mickey Spillane again visits with the author at his home for a conversation about his long and successful career. During the program, Spillane reflects back on his literary beginnings in the late 1930s, and his many notable projects including numerous detective and spy novels, short stories, film and television scripts, as well as his books for children.
