ETV Presents Special Preview Screening of Ken Burns's "The War"
Free Public Screenings to Be Held Around the State in September

Columbia, SC...This September, ETV presents several special screenings of The War, the seven-part documentary series directed and produced by critically-acclaimed filmmaker Ken Burns.The screenings are made possible in part by the Humanities Council of South Carolina.
The War series explores the history and horror of the Second World War from the perspective of veterans and citizens from four American towns - Waterbury, CT; Mobile, AL; Sacramento, CA; and Luverne, MN.
The hour-long preview, which is free and open to the public, features clips from the multi-part documentary and will be shown at venues around the state, including:
- ETV's Telecommunications Center in Columbia on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.
- USC Upstate's Tukey Theatre in Spartanburg on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.
- The Newberry Opera House on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
- Furman University's Younts Conference Center in Greenville on Monday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.
- Winthrop University's Plowden Hall in Rock Hill on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m.
- USC Beaufort's Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m.
- Yorktown Theatre in Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. The Yorktown Theatre is onboard the USS Yorktown, an aircraft carrier which fought in the Pacific during WWII, including the the Battle of the Marshall Islands and Iwo Jima.
- The Sumter Opera House on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.

The War will air in full beginning Sunday, Sept. 23 according to the following schedule:
- Sunday, Sept. 23; 8-10:30 p.m. - Episode One: A Necessary War
- Monday, Sept. 24; 8-10 p.m. - Episode Two: When Things Get Tough
- Tuesday, Sept. 25; 8-10 p.m. - Episode Three: A Deadly Calling
- Wednesday, Sept. 26; 8-10:30 p.m. - Episode Four: Pride of Our Nation
- Sunday, Sept. 30; 8-10 p.m. - Episode Five: FUBAR
- Monday, Oct. 1; 8-10 p.m. - Episode Six: The Ghost Front
- Tuesday, Oct. 2; 8-10:30 p.m. - Episode Seven: A World Without War
