June 30, 2008

Columbia, SC... ETV has named Victor J. Miller as the new operations manager for ETV Sumter. Miller comes to the Sumter station from Pittsburg State University in Kansas, where he worked as an assistant professor of broadcast communications. He will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations at the station and spearheading production and development opportunities.

From large-scale productions and public-service media to entertainment specials and documentaries, Miller's credentials span the spectrum, with a body of work he supervised as a production manager that includes PBS programs such as Jane Goodall: A Reason for Hope, DragonflyTV, Annenberg's Journey North, Right on the Money, and Newton's Apple Bites, a spin-off of PBS' Emmy Award-winning science series Newton's Apple.

Commenting on his impending move to the Palmetto State, the Oklahoma-native praised the Sumter team for the numerous Emmys the station has garnered, "I'm excited about moving back to the South and working in public television again," he said.

During Miller's 30 years of public, commercial and independent television experience, he has worked with some of the country's most recognizable programs and personalities. From CBS' 60-Minutes and 48 Hours to NBC's Dateline, ESPN Sports and National Geographic, the broadcast veteran has combed the globe, traveling to 42 states and more than a dozen foreign countries all in the pursuit of the story.

"Bringing Victor onboard further strengthens our ability to meet the needs of our viewers," noted Don Godish, director of broadcast content. "His comprehensive understanding of broadcasting, coupled with the incredibly diverse nature of the projects he's been involved with, will greatly benefit ETV networks overall."

South Carolina ETV is the state's public educational broadcasting network with 11 television and eight radio transmitters, and a multi-media educational system in more than 2,500 schools, colleges, businesses and government agencies. Using television, radio and the web, SCETV's mission is to enrich lives by educating children, informing and connecting citizens, celebrating our culture and environment and instilling the joy of learning.
