Sylvia, a northeast Columbia resident, endured years of domestic abuse before deciding to end her marriage. Fearful of her husband's reprisals, she sought help from local law enforcement. She was told to "go home and lock your bedroom door." Less than three hours later, she awakened to the sound of gunshots. Her estranged husband kicked in the door and shot her three times. Miraculously, she survived. This is Sylvia's Story.

After suffering years of mental abuse and violent beatings by her husband in Lugoff-Elgin, Lorie felt her life was in danger.
