Securing Our Future: The Hydrogen Alternative" Airs April 21 at 9 p.m.
For Immediate Release
March 24, 2006
Columbia, SC… In his most recent State of the Union Address, President George W. Bush challenged Americans to wean themselves away from foreign energy resources by, among other things, developing alternative energy supplies. And there are a number of states, including South Carolina that have heeded this call and are racing to take the lead and become “The Hydrogen State.”
With a national energy laboratory at the Savannah River Site, major research universities and active and engaged industries, South Carolina is uniquely positioned to claim this honor and become the dominant player in supplying the nation with this potential source of clean, reliable power.
On April 21 at 9 p.m., ETV airs Securing Our Future: The Hydrogen Alternative, which examines the steps that the Palmetto State is taking to ensure its position. The program will also take a hard look at the viability of using hydrogen fuel cell technology to power clean-running automobiles and, ultimately, our nation’s economy. Moderator Carolyn Sawyer joins a Who’s Who list of hydrogen fuel experts on this program including:
- Georges Benjamin, M.D., Executive Director, American Public Health Association
- David L. Bodde, Dr.BA, Senior Fellow, Arthur M. Spiro Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at Clemson University
- Timothy Dangerfield, Chief of Staff, South Carolina Department of Commerce
- Kenneth Lewis, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Science, Mathematics and Engineering Technology, South Carolina State University
- Steven G. Chalk, Hydrogen Program Manager, U.S. Department of Energy
- James Spearot, Ph.D., General Motors Research and Development in Warren, MI
- G. Todd Wright, Ph.D., Laboratory Director, Savannah River National Laboratory
