Columbia, SC…The lovable ETV Kids’ mascot, Smart Cat, will be teaming up with his kitten cousin, The Cat in the Hat, on Oct. 18 and Oct. 19 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. for Kindergarten Day at the State Fair in Columbia. They will be located at the Cantey Building, along with an ETV booth where parents and children can learn more about the educational resources ETV offers.

The dynamic duo from ETV are on a mission to spread the word about healthy eating and scientific discovery. “The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!,” based on the Dr. Seuss books, is the newest PBS KIDS program and was created in response to studies showing that children entering the first grade were less prepared in the subject of science than any other subject. The show takes children on exiting adventures where they explore everything from how bees make honey to why birds migrate.

Adding to the fun will be Smart Cat, ETV’s very own friendly and fit mascot. He will be encouraging kids to eat healthy and to maintain an active lifestyle. Smart Cat coloring sheets, stickers, and more will be available for kids to take home.

Plus, the first 200 people to join The Cat in the Hat and Smart Cat on Kindergarten Day will receive a FREE Smart Cat Mini-Frisbee, complete with the Smart Cat Seal of Approval.

ETV is South Carolina’s statewide network with 11 television stations, eight radio stations and a closed-circuit educational telecommunications system in more than 2000 schools, colleges, businesses, and government agencies.
