ETV and Friends Come to the 2008 South Carolina State Fair

Join Dooley, Smart Cat and Others at the Canty Building Beginning Sunday, Oct. 12

For Immediate Release
September 19, 2008

Beginning Sunday, Oct. 12 through Tuesday, Oct. 16, ETV adds to the excitement at the 2008 South Carolina State Fair with appearances by characters from some of ETV’s most popular kids’ shows, including Dooley, Word Girl and Whyatt, the main character from Super Why!

Adding even more fun to the festivities is ETV’s fabulously fit feline, Smart Cat, who kicks off the five-day fair frenzy with his Vote for Good Health campaign. This project shows boys and girls that being healthy requires making good food choices, and allows them to cast a ballot for their favorite fruit or vegetable.

The “candidates” themselves even get in on the action during Kindergarten Days, Monday, Oct. 13 and Tuesday, Oct. 14. From a 6-foot-tall ear of corn to a 117-pound apple, Smart Cat, along with a few additional delectable friends, will help spread the word about fun and healthy food options. Little ones can expect to have a peach of a time as they help Smart Cat choose his favorite food. (They can also vote online at www.etvkids.org.) And just like the grown-up election, the winner will be announced on ETV on Nov. 4.

This year, fans of all ages will not only get a chance to be up-close-and-personal with characters from their favorite ETV Kids programs, but also with their favorite fruits and veggies. There will even be goodies to take home, like coloring sheets, stickers, activity pages and bookmarks. So, don’t forget to bring cameras to capture the magic.

Meet-and-greet events will be held inside the Canty Building and at the Netterfield Food Court which is located outside the Canty Building on the following dates and times:
