ETV and Discovery Education Host Awards Luncheon
For Immediate Release
March 16, 2010
WHAT:
On Wednesday, March 17, ETV and Discovery Education will host an awards luncheon at ETV's Columbia studios to help kick off ETV's semi-annual three-day educational technology conference, which provides FREE training on a wide variety of digital learning tools to teachers across the state. During this luncheon, 13 schools and two school districts will receive certificates of achievement highlighting their use of StreamlineSC, the largest library of digital content correlated to South Carolina curriculum standards available to educators today.
Philippe Cousteau, grandson of famed explorer Jacques Cousteau, and Discovery Education's Chief Spokesperson for Environmental Education will be at ETV to help hand out the awards, along with ETV President David Crouch.
ETV partners with Discovery Education, a division of Discovery Communications whose networks include Discovery Channel, Science Channel, and Animal Planet, to provide StreamlineSC to educators statewide at no cost.
Following the luncheon, Discovery Education’s Chief Spokesperson for Environmental Education, Philippe Cousteau, will visit Riverbanks Zoo and Garden to participate in the taping of an episode of Riverbanks Roundup, an educational television show produced in partnership with ETV and the State Department of Education that airs monthly on ETV. While at the Zoo, Cousteau will meet with members of Riverbanks’ Kids Commission, participate in a river cleanup and meet some of the critters that call the Zoo home.
