ETV Airs Spanish Musical Spectacular "Benise: Nights of Fire"

Spanish Guitarist Roni Benise Performs LIVE in the ETV Studio on Monday, August 27

For Immediate Release
July 16, 2007

Columbia, SC...On Monday, August 27 at 7 p.m., ETV airs the Emmy Award-winning stage show “Benise: Nights of Fire.” This journey of Spanish music and dance is an unprecedented adventure through Spanish Flamenco, Cuban Salsa and Brazilian Samba. Underscoring the elaborately produced program, Roni Benise, composer, guitarist and creative force behind the show will give a LIVE, closed-studio performance at ETV on the same night.

Capturing the world of music at its best, “Benise: Nights of Fire” takes viewers on a romantic and exotic voyage through the wild and beautiful sounds of the Spanish guitar, unfolding a new tapestry of Spanish music and dance. Breathtaking couture fashion, innovative staging and choreography gives Spanish dance a fresh and luminous makeover that appeals to people of all ages, cultures and musical backgrounds.

From Spanish Flamenco to Cuban Salsa to Brazilian Samba, the traditions and rules of music and dance are transformed by the 50 performers who join Benise throughout the show.  With his band of world-class musicians, the show displays global rhythms that are both tribal and edgy.  A Havana horn section joins the self-taught guitarist during the Cuban salsa number, and a 10-piece orchestra lends support during the bold and beautifully arranged ballads.

The show’s goal, according to Benise, is “to take people on a musical journey.  I wanted to push the boundaries of traditional Flamenco/Spanish guitar while combining the elements of dance and theater.”
