ETV Adds Free Podcasts to Its Radio and Television Coverage of the 2006 Spoleto Festival USA

Columbia, SC...Podcasts from Charleston’s Spoleto Festival USA will be the newest feature added to ETV and ETV Radio’s coverage of the three-week long international arts celebration. 

The podcasts allow South Carolinians a multitude of ways to catch the latest information about one of the biggest arts festivals in the United States taking place in their backyard.  Podcasts will include the 30-minute program Spoleto Today (description below) and 20-second Spoleto Updates, highlighting the different events happening each day.  They can be downloaded straight to listeners’ MP3 players by logging onto www.etvradio.org/podcast and subscribing to the free series.

ETV’s radio and television coverage also provides opportunities for folks who cannot make it to the festival to savor its many offerings.  The schedule is as follows:

  • Spoleto Festival USA’s Chamber Music Concert Series 2005 revisits last year’s wonderful performances every Thursday at 8 p.m. through June 29.  Hosted by Charles Wadsworth and also broadcast nationally, each program delivers world-class chamber music performances and showcases an array of bright, new talent.  Listeners can enjoy classical and modern works including Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and Paul Harvey's Three Studies on Themes of Gershwin.
  • Spoleto Festival USA’s Chamber Music Concert Series 2006, the 11 concerts from this year’s Spoleto Festival, can also be heard on ETV Radio Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m., from June 2-9.  The program will move to 9 a.m. for its final week, June 12-16.
  • Spoleto Today is a half-hour program designed for those die-hard fans who are looking to get an early peek at the performances each day. Airing LIVE Monday through Friday at 9 a.m., from May 22 – June 9, listeners can hear interviews with artists and musicians speaking about their productions, as well as find out which shows should not be missed!  Hosted and produced by Marcus Overton, the series is in its 12th year of production.

  • Inside Spoleto, also hosted and produced by Marcus Overton, is a behind-the-scenes look at the Spoleto Festival and airs on Saturday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m.  Inside Spoleto follows Overton to many different venues in Charleston as he highlights some of the 120 acts of the festival, including opera, ballet, jazz, and theatre.  Overton also interviews the artists and directors who have made the festival so successful.
