Dear Viewers and Listeners:
Traditionally, summer can be a time of broadcast repetition, but this month ETV offers exciting new series and specials for our audience’s enjoyment.
This year’s A Capitol Fourth 2014 is broadcast live from the U.S. Capitol, with patriotic performances, rousing music by the National Symphony Orchestra, and a spectacular fireworks display.
On Tuesday evenings, the new series Time Scanners uses cutting-edge technology to “read” buildings and ruins, revealing their history. That same night, History Detectives Special Investigations follows investigators as they probe some of the biggest historical mysteries which remain unsolved. And on Sundays, David Suchet returns as the super sleuth Hercule Poirot in two new mysteries, based on the novels of Agatha Christie.
On ETV Radio, our own national series Song Travels kicks off the summer season this month. Michael Feinstein welcomes guests ranging from jazz artist Curtis Stigers to country singer Suzy Bogguss for discussions about what American song means to them. The ever-popular A Prairie Home Companion celebrates its 40th anniversary with a live three-hour special, as host Garrison Keillor welcomes original performers as well as members of the current cast.
We’re pleased to offer lots of new programming this month, so be sure to look through this Scene to find your interests. And as always, we could not provide these programs without your wonderful support!
