Dear Viewers and Listeners,
In June, thoughts turn to summer vacation, but parents can be assured that their children will continue to build literacy skills with the PBS Summer Literacy Project. Designed to address the “summer slide,” this summer-long project includes ten weeks of kids’ favorite programs—including Wild Kratts, Sesame Street, Dinosaur Train, and Sid the Science Kid—featuring reading-related episodes. Games and activities are available for kids at pbskids.org/read and for parents at pbsparents.org/read.
In observation of D-Day, ETV reprises the three-part miniseries, American Road to Victory. Presented nationally by ETV, the trilogy features engaging battlefield tours that bring the viewers into the action of World War II. The programs follow GIs to the actual locations of the battlefields of D-Day, and utilize careful re-enactments, special effects, animated maps and archival footage woven with the chilling testimony from veterans.
Making It Grow! records a special program with a live audience at the Newberry Opera House this month, which will air later this season.
ETV Radio continues its coverage of the popular Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston through June 7 on Spoleto Today, hosted by Marc Overton and Jeanette Guinn. ETV Radio is also broadcasting this year’s Chamber Music from Spoleto daily at 1 p.m. through June 14 on the classical service.
Happy summer viewing and listening!
