Dear Viewers and Listeners:
ETV, in collaboration with The State newspaper, The Greenville News, and other newspapers around the state, continues with a series of televised debates prior to the June 10th primary. Sen. Lindsey Graham will join the debate for his Senate seat live June 7th at 7 p.m. on ETV-HD. The Race for Lt. Governor airs on June 5th at 7 p.m. Last month we carried debates for Superintendent of Education and the unexpired U.S. Senate seat. The debates are being streamed live on scetv.org and via participating local newspaper websites.
We are proud that ETV has been the recipient of a variety of awards and accolades. Our national presentation, A Chef’s Life, has won a Peabody Award. The series focuses on Chef Vivian Howard and her high-end farm-to-fork restaurant in North Carolina. It is a part of our ETV Presents consortium, headed by Amy Shumaker, Executive-in-charge.
ETV Radio’s Song Travels with Michael Feinstein has received an Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The grant recognizes projects that meet the highest standards of excellence. Heard nationally on NPR, Song Travelsis now in its fifth season, produced by Director of ETV and Radio Programming Shari Hutchinson.
The National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded ETV a major grant for the implementation of an interactive website about Hobcaw Barony, located on the S.C. coast, entitled Between the Waters. The grant will allow completion of a prototype created earlier and enable visitors to the site to tour and learn about the complex history of this exceptional property. Headed by Project Director Betsy Newman, the prototype website can be explored at www.betweenthewaters.org.
The DVD version of Space Heroes, a program on South Carolina astronauts which was part of ETV’s Carolina Stories series, was selected to receive a Notable State Documents Award for 2013. The awards program recognizes exemplary documents issued by state agencies that are received in the South Carolina State Library. The program was produced, written, photographed and edited by Mark Adams; Steve Folks and Amy Shumaker are executive producers.
We are so fortunate to have such a wealth of talent here at ETV, but we could not continue without your valued, consistent support!
