Dear Viewers and Listeners:
Many of us remember where we were or what we were doing when we received the news that President John F. Kennedy had been shot—the beginning of a turbulent time for our nation. This month marks the 50th anniversary of his assassination, and ETV offers a variety of programming that looks back at the events and impact of this tragic occurrence.
The award-winning series American Experience presents a two-part special, JFK, which provides a fresh look at the enigmatic man who remains one of the nation’s most beloved and mourned leaders. Our science series NOVA offers Cold Case JFK, an intriguing look at how current state-of-the-art forensic tools might have been applied to Kennedy’s assassination investigation.
Secrets of the Dead presents JFK: One P.M. Central Standard Time, a minute-by-minute chronicle of the assassination as it was revealed in the CBS newsroom. The Kennedy Half-Century, based on the book by Larry Sabato, focuses on the influence of Kennedy’s life, administration, and death on every subsequent U.S. president.
ETV also pays tribute to local heroes in two new Carolina Stories offerings. General William C. Westmoreland: The Man Behind the Four Stars looks at the career of this remarkable South Carolinian, who was the military commander for the Allied Forces in Vietnam. Fallen Heroes profiles two native sons who gave their lives in WWII combat: Doolittle Raider William G. Farrow and Thomas Dry Howie.
As always, in this month of Thanksgiving, we give thanks for your loyal dedication and support.
