Dear Viewers and Listeners:

As summer winds down, ETV Festival gears up for a host of special programs from August 16-August 24.  New musical offerings include concerts by blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa, 13-year-old piano prodigy Ethan Bortnick, soothing instrumentalist Yanni, and a new My Music production of ‘50s and ‘60s Party Songs.  Travel guru Rick Steves returns with a new special, touring three Italian cities—Rome, Venice and Florence.  And Dr. Joel Fuhrman shows viewers how to end dieting forever with his practical advice on a healthy lifestyle.

ETV Radio has added a new series on the news stations—BBC World Service Newshour. The weekday series, which provides an hour of headlines and commentary from around the world, replaces NPR’s Tell Me More, which ended production in July.

On the home front, we wish to congratulate the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia, which officially opens its new planetarium and 4-D theater this month.  The State Museum has undertaken a remarkable renovation that will also include an online observatory and classroom, and an outdoor telescope viewing terrace and digital learning capabilities.  As part of the renovation, ETV has created its own permanent exhibit in the lobby of the museum that will reflect on ETV’s history and current programming.  This will include monitors with video clips ranging from our earliest days at Dreher High School to ETV’s current productions and presentations.  Visitors will also gain bragging rights by being able to “touch the top of a TV tower.”

We hope you’ll visit ETV’s exhibit at the S. C. State Museum!  The Grand Opening is scheduled for Saturday, August 16.

Linda O’Bryon
President and CEO
