Bee Keeper

It is estimated that bees pollinate nearly 130 agricultural commodities, with commercial bee pollination valued at about ten billion dollars. Honey and beeswax are obvious products, but it is the bee population’s impact on the productivity of fruit and vegetable crops that is considered the most critical asset to the agricultural economy. Recently bee populations have declined, a trend attributed to the combined impact of invasive Africanized honey bees, viruses, pesticides and loss of habitat.

In this video, bee keeper Phil Lassen explains the life cycle of bees and the care and maintenance that goes into bee keeping.
