while driving on Daniel Island some months ago I saw many blotches of small dead trees in the heavy woods. Cathy at Cypress Gardens tells me our native sassafras trees have been dessimated by the ambrosia bettle. What a tragedy! Can they recover on their own or are they likely gone forever? Thank you.
