Forest Lake Greenhouses, named after the nearby lake, is a full-service retail/wholesale garden center and greenhouse specializing in blooming plant sales and production.
McLeod Farms offers the sweetest seasonal strawberries, blackberries, peaches and vegetables available in the South. Our season begins in April with the biggest and sweetest strawberries. Be sure to join us for our annual Strawberry Festival. Our peach season begins in early June, and our delicious South Carolina peaches and blackberries start filling the shelves. Be sure to join us for our annual Peach Festival in July. Our peach baskets can be purchased locally from our roadside market. If you can’t stop by, we ship peaches!!! We start shipping our peaches around the end of June through August.
Electricity first began to flow across the land in the 1930s. However, the prospect of electric service in the rural areas didn’t look very bright. Electric utilities already energizing the cities showed no interest in lighting the countryside. From these humble beginnings, BEC has grown into a state-of-the-art electric utility serving over 64,000 members in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties with over 4,000 miles of line connecting them all together. This makes BEC the largest electric cooperative in South Carolina, and one of the top 20 in the nation.

Santee Cooper is South Carolina's state-owned electric and water utility, and the state's largest power producer, supplying electricity to more than 163,000 retail customers in Berkeley, Georgetown, and Horry counties, as well as to 31 large industrial facilities, the cities of Bamberg and Georgetown, and the Charleston Air Force Base. Santee Cooper also generates the power distributed by the state's 20 electric cooperatives to more than 685,000 customers in all 46 counties. Approximately 2 million South Carolinians receive their power directly or indirectly from Santee Cooper. The utility also provides water to 137,000 consumers in Berkeley and Dorchester counties, and the town of Santee.
