ETV Community and State Partners
ETV Featured Partner: Migrant Head Start “Camp Care” –Lodge, S.C.
The East Coast Migrant Head Start Project, a division of the federal Head Start program, serves children of Latino migrant and seasonal farmworkers. They provide dual-language early childhood education for children from birth to age five, and also teach classes designed to enhance parents’ understanding of the American public school system. Migrant Head Start’s main objectives are to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to enter kindergarten, and to empower parents to take an active role in the education of their children.
ETV is one of 32 American Graduate grantee stations nationwide. During the grant period, ETV is capturing stories of innovative approaches to combating the dropout crisis. The ETV American Graduate team visited the community of Lodge in Colleton County to spotlight their “Camp Care” Migrant Head Start center, which operates from June to November and serves around 85 kids per season.
