Colonial Williamsburg Electronic Field Trips Premiere—Civil War Ironclads March 13
The sixth program in the CWEFT series entitled Civil War Ironclads airs March 13 at 1:00 p.m. on ETV. This premiere program looks at the armored, steam-powered warships, ancestors of today’s navies, which the Union and Confederacy raced to build during the Civil War. Colonial Williamsburg Electronic Field Trips support American history education for students in grades 4-8. ALL SC schools may view the electronic field trip programs on ETV’s South Carolina Channel (SCC).
Using 21st century technology to enrich the teaching of social studies and dramatizations with re-enactors to play the roles of historical figures, CWEFT programs provide a compelling learning experience that is correlated to National Standards for Social Studies. Meet the people behind and aboard the “ironclads” as we relive the famous 1862 battle between the Monitor and the Merrimack in this new program provided by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
In addition to the March 13th program, SC schools are invited to access the last program in this school year’s series that airs April 10 at 1:00 p.m. on SCC. (See description below.)
