Carolina Careers—September program now available on Career Aisle!

Need quick, cost-efficient, professional development without requesting travel funds? PD that is guaranteed to fit in your busy schedule?  Don't miss September's Carolina Careers! View video.

SCDE's Scot Hockman and Dr. Ray Davis will return with another program in Creating a Career with the Arts in Mind (Part Two). This month, they explore how technology is changing careers in art. The art panel will offer you a valuable insight to art careers through the eyes of famous South Carolina artists.

We'll then travel just south to Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College (O-C Tech) to learn how they developed their rigorous programs of study in Mechatronics on "Modeling Career Guidance."  You'll hear from college-bound K–12 students taking dual credit and concurrent enrollment courses at O-C Tech to get the inside track on SC’s high tech jobs!

Having trouble relating the importance of the SCANS skill of "Initiative and Self-Direction" to your students?  Rick Hendrix Motor Sports and Trident Education Foundation's Brad Davis can help you!  Mr. Davis weaves a clear argument for how to be ready for tomorrow's jobs through personal improvement and how to strive for balanced life roles. This is "must-see" for NASCAR and auto racing fans who will marvel at Mr. Davis' avocation of car racing!

"Book Talk" kicks into gear with SCDE's with Wofford O'Sullivan who reviews Matthew Crawford's fascinating book, Shop Class as Soulcraft. Invite your CTE faculty to join you for this one and see why Publishers Weekly named his book as one of their Top Ten Books of 2009.

Host Dr. Ray Davis will also preview OCATE's first virtual Fall Professional Development Update via eMedia and help you prepare for Career Development Month coming in November.  Watch, listen, learn with Carolina Careers and eMedia!
