SCIRA “Rockin’ & Rollin” with Literacy Conference February 20-22
The annual South Carolina Council of the International Reading Association will hold the “Rockin’ & Rollin with Literacy” Conference at the Myrtle Beach Sheraton Convention Center on February 20-22, 2014. The mission of the SCIRA is to promote literacy through the improvement of reading instruction, to encourage reading as a lifetime tool for learning, and to foster the formation of the reading habit.
On Thursday, February 20, there are several full-day preconference institutes and other afternoon-only preconference opportunities. Several authors will be featured at this 39th annual conference: Chris Lehman, author of Falling in Love with Close Reading, will be the keynote for the morning session and Jackie Mims Hopkins, author of Prairie Chicken Little, will be the special luncheon speaker on Friday, February 21. Plus Eric Litwin, author of Pete the Cat, will be featured at the “Sock Hop” on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, February 22, Lee Ann Spillane, author of Reading Amplified, will be the speaker at the morning General Session.
