SC educators can earn credit by the June 30th renewal cycle deadline through participation in one or more of the ETV Teacher Recertification upcoming sessions--47 courses (plus several new courses TBA) that earn 20 renewal credits offered each session and Rudy Mancke’s Natural History course offered in special session, too!

EOC Studies Link Between Reading Performance and Graduation

An EOC study completed this year examined the relationship between third grade reading performance and graduation in South Carolina. Performance was measured on the state assessment in 2000, the Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test (PACT), and identified students who were significantly below grade level on reading in third grade. Then over a period of time these students were monitored to determine if they graduated on time or within two years.

Students who scored at Below Basic 1 on the 2000 PACT ELA test were less likely to be able to be identified as still being enrolled in public schools…
