(Bullying) South Carolina – Self Control: Addressing Bullying In Our Schools
Developed in collaboration with the State Department of Education’s Guidance Services, this series of seven instructional television programs was produced by ITV and ETV to provide schools with an effective way to assist in meeting specific requirements of the Safe School Climate Act. Dr. Sue Smith-Rex, educator and author, developed the content and serves as instructor for the bullying prevention model. The SC2 model was piloted at Geiger Elementary School in Fairfield County. Their participation was key to the production of the video series. The SC2 model consists of three levels. These are outlined in the video lessons and online packet of information that guides educators on how to facilitate the model with their elementary students. The programs show Dr. Sue Smith-Rex teaching and working with students in all three levels while utilizing the key materials in the packet.

Easily combine digital photos, narration and theme music to create wonderful picture stories-travel books, animal adventures/habitats, historical events, poems, town history, family tree, field trips (What did we learn?), famous people, food, rain forests, "going green", etc. Sample projects will be shown and ideas shared. Let's create together! Please feel free to bring a USB thumb/flash drive with your own pictures and to take home your finished project.

During this session, we will explore some of the ways you can incorporate the incredible geospatial displays that are a part of Google Earth into your everyday lessons, activities, and labs. This session will take you through the beginning steps to podcasting and posting your work on the web. The vocabulary, free download software, the use of iTunes and ways to post your creations will be covered. We will take you through the entire recording process with Audacity and smartconverter; show you how to convert to MP3 and post on the web; and find other useful podcasts for your classroom.
