Website Linked with Charleston Shooting Suspect is Being Investigated
A website discovered on Saturday that contains photographs of Dylann Roof and a racist manifesto is being investigated, since it could be potentially linked to the man charged with the crime.
According to The New York Times, the website contains a close look at Roof’s thinking. The site shows a gallery of 60 photographs in which Mr. Roof appears in most of them. The photos show Roof posing with a pistol, waving the Confederate flag, among others. The site also includes a racist manifesto in which the author classifies black as being inferior.
The website, called the Last Rhodesian, was registered in February under the name of Dylann Roof, the man who is charged with entering a Bible study inside the historical Emanuel A.M.E church last Wednesday night and killing nine worshipers.
The author of the 2000-word manifesto says, “I have no choice. I am not in the position to, alone, go into the ghetto and fight. I chose Charleston because it is most historic city in my state, and at one time had the highest ratio of blacks to Whites in the country.”
It is not yet known if the manifesto was written by Roof or if he had control over it, nor the origin of the photographs. According to The New York Times, the Charleston police and the FBI were “taking steps to verify the authenticity of these postings.”
